Dr. Makam completed his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. He then pursued his doctorate in osteopathic medicine at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
Following medical school, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at LAC+USC Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. His training then took him to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he completed fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute, serving as Chief Fellow of the program. He returned to California to complete advanced fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology at Kaiser Sunset Los Angeles Medical Center. Most recently, he has become board-certified in Clinical Lipidology, enhancing his ability to identify patients at the highest risk from cholesterol-related complications and to care for those with genetic forms of high cholesterol.
Dr. Makam is fluent in English, Spanish, and Telugu, and understands Gujarati. He sees patients ages 21 and older and welcomes patients of all backgrounds.
He is on staff at Anaheim Global Medical Center, Anaheim Regional Medical Center, and Corona Regional Medical Center.
Along with his board certifications, Dr. Makam has completed his supervisor and operator certificate in fluoroscopy through the California Department of Public Health.
